OUR HISTORY.

John Wesley had no intention of preaching in Scotland, but came
by
invitation in 1751.
His second visit brought him to Glasgow in 1753. On this occasion
he preached in the open air to a crowd in excess of 1000 people
who willingly came to hear him in spite of the rain.

In Kilsyth our origins begin in 1827, when a young man from
Kirkintilloch, by the name of James Cameron preached in the open
air at the cross of the Old Town. Some were convinced and came
to faith in Christ as they heard the good news this young man
preached. They were among the first people affected by the
Kilsyth
revival of 1839.
The some became many who were also from surrounding villages
who began to meet in halls at first. The foundation stone of their
own chapel was laid in 1840.*

The present building, vacated last year, was erected on the same
site in 1884.
