KILSYTH METHODIST CHURCH
SUMMER PRAYER LETTER 2009.

For the past few years we have been meeting as a fellowship toge  church in the Old Library, Burngreen.  It has been a
time of growing together in fellowship and of
strengthening our faith.

Now the door is open for us to move forward and
step out in faith.

Isaiah 43 v 18 -19 says this:

“Forget the former things do not dwell on the past.   See I am doing a new thing.  Now it springs
up do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland”

We give thanks for the past. For the faith of the
men and women who began the Methodist Church
here in Kilsyth.  For those in succeeding generations
over the years   who have testified by their faith and their witness
to their believe in our Lord Jesus Christ. Who have
upheld the traditions of the Methodist Church of
the grace of Christ and the outworking of that faith
through service in the community. Through their hope and trust in our Lord Jesus Christ they have passed on to us a legacy of faith for the future.

We now step out in faith - out of the security of
Old Library, Burngreen into  a new and exciting venture.  There may be storms, there may be problems but as our opening sentence said “if we want to walk on water - MOVE ON WITH GOD we have to like Peter step out of the comfort of the boat keeping our eyes fixed on Christ.

“The worst failure is not to sink in the waves. The worse failure is to never get out of the boat”
(John Ortberg)

Peter got out of the boat started walking on the water and came toward Jesus.

STEPPING OUT IN FAITH WITH THE BODY OF CHRIST:

Jesus Christ you have chosen us to be a part of your body.
Some of us know our talents,
The things that we are good at
Others often say,
But what can I do?

Jesus you are wise,
And we are your choice,
and so we say ‘yes’ to you
and trust your spirit to bring out the best in us.
As your body,
May we make a difference,
To our church,
Our community,
And our world.
Amen
